This represents a historical transition marking an ecclesial journey that began more than 50 years ago, and even earlier, at the parish church of Montichiari [Italy]. We gratefully welcome this development, which has come not without some difficulties that can inevitably accompany these processes. We are aware that the diocesan ecclesial body will open a new investigation of the past spiritual and Marian phenomenon that originated in this area with faithful obedience to the Holy Spirit who continues to help and console His Church.
We express our sincere gratitude to Bishop Pierantonio because, in line with the interventions of his predecessors since 2001, has authorized the celebration of public worship at Fontanelle. The Bishop personally took to heart the experience of faith and prayer that grew in Fontanelle and also considered the spiritual life of the visionary, Pierina Gilli. The Bishop, in cultivating an ongoing dialogue with the Apostolic See, has thus assumed responsibility for broad and extensive investigations in view of the thousands of pilgrims who come every year to the feet of the Mother of the Lord, seeking her good consolation and help.
The two titles that will be attributed to Our Lady at this Diocesan Shrine are Rosa Mystica (Mystical Rose) and Mother of the Church. These titles are united by the tradition of prayer and piety with which the Mother of the Lord is invoked where this worship is widely enjoyed. These titles for Mary will continue to show us the tenderness and love with which she wishes to embrace all of humanity, provide care for her suffering children and for the souls consecrated to the love of her Son, Jesus.
Our hearts are filled with joy and gratitude as we prepare ourselves to intensely live these moments of Grace that will accompany the celebrations of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, particularly in Fontanelle and especially during the Hour of Grace. Let us invoke a great prayer of intercession from all the faithful devotees of Rosa Mystica, so that every step may be lived in obedience to the will of the Lord and to the authority of the Church, contemplating the fruits that the Holy Spirit continues to grant to His Church.
